What is the current US Army combat uniform?
The Army Combat Uniform (ACU) is the current combat uniform worn by the United States Army, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Space Force. Within U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force, it is referred to as the OCP (Operational Camouflage Pattern) Uniform, rather than the Army Combat Uniform.

Why are military uniforms khaki?
The impracticality of traditional bright colors such as the red coat, especially for skirmishing, was recognised early in the 19th century. A response to improved technologies such as aerial surveillance and smokeless powder, khaki could camouflage soldiers in the field of battle.

Is the AGSU replacing the ASU?
Soldiers will still have until Oct. 1, 2027 to purchase the AGSU, after which the ASU will become the Army’s optional dress uniform.
