How effective would a black military uniform be in a desert

At night it may be helpful, if the moon isn’t up, or if you aren’t in a desert with just sand dunes. The problem is that many deserts are rather barren and without distinguishing terrain and obstacles, it would stick out, particularly if the moon is out, because in a sandy desert, sand is actually light colored!
